VPN Error Codes & Troubleshooting Steps
ERR: 103
This error occurs when a connection is established to the VPN, but your machine is then unable to access the internet once connected. This usually means the current network you’re connected to is blocking VPN traffic for some reason.
If you are on a trusted private network, you can leave the VPN disconnected.
ERR: 104
This happens when a connection is successfully established to the VPN, but an unexpected error occurs after.
You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Click the refresh button to get the current VPN status.
- If the status is connected, your VPN is successfully connected.
- If the status is disconnected, try connecting again.
- If retrying the connection in step 2b resulted in the same error, try restarting your machine.
- If you are still unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 105
This happens when an unexpected error occurred during the connection process. You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Click the refresh button to get the current VPN status.
- If the status is connected your VPN is successfully connected.
- If the status is disconnected, try connecting again.
- If retrying the connection in step 2b resulted in the same error, try restarting your machine.
- If you are still unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 401
An error occurred when attempting to create the VPN connection.
You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Click the refresh button to confirm the status is still disconnected.
- Try using the switch to connect one more time.
- If you receive the same error after attempting step 2, try restarting your machine.
- If you still are unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 402
An error occurred when attempting to disconnect the VPN. This usually, this happens if the VPN was not actually connected, or the VPN was connected through an app other than Aegis.
You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure there is not other VPN connection on your machine outside of Aegis.
- Click the refresh button to confirm the status is still connected.
- Attempt to disconnect again.
- If you receive the same error after attempting step 2, try restarting your machine.
- If you still are unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 403
An internal error occurred when starting the VPN process.
You can try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Click the refresh button to confirm the status is still disconnected.
- Try using the switch to connect one more time.
- If you receive the same error after attempting step 2, try restarting your machine.
- If you still are unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 404
The user attempted to connect to the VPN when the machine was configured as an RDP device.
- If the VPN shows as connected and you want to keep RDP enabled, then you are all set.
- If you would like to disconnect and are okay disabling RDP, switch off RDP and the VPN should automatically disconnect.
- If you continue to see errors, try restarting your machine.
- If you still are unable to connect after restarting your machine, contact Atomus Support by emailing success@atomuscyber.com.
ERR: 405
The VPN was already connected. If you were trying to connect, you can disregard this error as you should now be connected (this can be confirmed by clicking the Refresh button and confirming the returned status is connected).
ERR: 406
A backup is in progress. The VPN cannot be connected while a backup is running. If you need to connect the VPN, you can stop the backup, wait for the process to complete, and then connect to the VPN.
